Amir Farid

Winner of the 2006 Australian National Piano Award, Amir Farid has been described as “a highly creative musician – a pianist of great intelligence and integrity.”  
He worked with Ronald Farren-Price at the University of Melbourne, gaining his Mus. Bac. (Honours); with Rita Reichmann, Geoffrey Tozer and Timothy Young at the Australian National Academy of Music; and with Andrew Ball at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
Amir has performed concerti with the Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, and Melbourne Youth and ANAM orchestras. He is a member of the acclaimed Benaud Trio which won the Australian Chamber Music Competition Trio Prize in 2005 and undertook a residency at the Banff Centre for Arts in Canada. As an accompanist he won best pianist in the Mietta Song Recital award 2006; and, in 2007 the Geoffrey Parsons Award.

Julie Haskell

Dr Julie Haskell (PhD, FTLC, AmusA) is a staff member at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne and at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Her PhD is on the development and use of the pedal, which has led to a focus on historic performance practice and an interest in the forte piano.
She has performed extensively in Australia and Europe, in recitals, radio broadcasts, as a concerto soloist, orchestral pianist, chamber musician and accompanist. Following piano studies and many awards from her early years onward in Australia, she studied at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague.

Irina Cherkasski

Born and educated in Moscow (Russia) Irina Cherkasski developed her musical career in three different countries. She worked as a staff accompanist at the Ippolitov-Ivanov School of Music and as a repetiteur for Opera NZ, Opera Australia, Melbourne City Opera and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).
Irina also enjoys a busy teaching career at Ivanhoe Grammar School and MLC Music Academy.
